The
Right Start Program is designed to assist students whose ACT or other
test scores require developmental work to be successful at ASU. The program
combines intrusive advising with enrollment in required developmental
studies and UC 1022-Strategies for College Success. Specific aspects of
the program follow:
Beginning
full-time freshman students with an ACT composite of 18 or less are
required to participate in the Right Start Program. Students with other
test scores who must take developmental courses are also required to
participate in the Right Start Program.
Other
students admitted on a conditional basis may be required to participate
in the Right Start Program.
Students
are expected to enroll in any needed developmental courses and
Stategies for College Success during their first enrollment periods.
Right
Start participants are usually advised by their Strategies for
College Success instructor, but may be assigned to another of
their developmental studies instructors. Right Start advisors
will advise students during their first two semesters at the university,
although they may also meet with departmental advisors as well.
